1. SWEEPING COST
The quoted cost applies to standard sweeps, provided there are no blockages, bird nests, or excessive dirt. The flue must be accessible and of standard two-story height. Additional charges may apply for non-standard sweeps, excessive soot, or necessary repairs (e.g., stove fire cement, door rope, firebricks). Happy Chimney Sweep will inform you of any issues and associated costs as they arise

2. DAMAGE
During the process of opening your stove, removing baffle plates, firebricks, and sweeping, there is a possibility of damage occurring due to the nature of the work. While we take every precaution to protect your stove or appliance, Happy Chimney Sweep cannot be held responsible for any damage that may occur.
3. PREPARATION
... Please ensure that any Aga or boiler to be swept is turned off the night before our visit.
... Open fires or stoves should not be lit on the day of the sweep.
... Clear all ornaments and items from the fireplace and mantelpiece to be swept.
... Ensure there is sufficient clear space around the fireplace to allow access to the chimney or appliance.

6. CERTIFICATES
Upon completion of the service and receipt of payment, we will provide a Sweeping Certificate. This certificate serves as proof for your insurance that your fire or stove is being properly maintained. The certificate will be sent to you via email.
7. ARRIVAL
The agreed arrival time indicates the window within which we will arrive. Please note that this timeframe does not include the duration required to complete the job. We kindly ask that you remain available after the stated arrival time to facilitate the work. While we strive to adhere to the agreed arrival time, unforeseen circumstances such as delays from previous jobs or traffic conditions may occur. In such cases, Happy Chimney Sweep will make every effort to inform you via phone or text. In rare and exceptional situations, we may need to reschedule your appointment.
8. COWLS & BIRD GUARDS
The sweeping process involves sending a brush to the top of the chimney, which relies on the bird guard or cowl being properly fitted and in good condition. A quality, correctly installed bird guard or cowl should withstand the force exerted during sweeping. However, if the bird guard or cowl has deteriorated over time, been damaged by soot, or was improperly installed, Happy Chimney Sweep cannot be held responsible for any dislodgement or damage that may occur during the sweeping process. Replacement of worn, poorly fitted, or degraded cowls is the responsibility of the customer.
9. STOVE FIREBRICKS
While every effort is made to handle your property with care during a stove sweep, Happy Chimney Sweep cannot be held responsible for the replacement of stove firebricks. Firebricks are subject to wear and tear during normal use and have a limited lifespan. If they are already weak, cracked, or damaged at the time of sweeping, they may break completely during the process. Replacement firebricks, including parts and labor for fitting, will be chargeable.
10. POT & COWL FITTING, ROOF REPAIRS & LINER INSTALLATION
All roof and external work is subject to weather conditions on the scheduled day. In the event of rain or high winds, we will need to reschedule your appointment. Certain tasks may require two operatives; if one is unavailable on the appointment date, we will also need to reschedule. The standard pricing applies to average two-story buildings with straightforward ladder access to all necessary areas. Additional charges may apply for taller buildings or those with challenging access. We will keep you informed throughout the process. Please note that while we take utmost care of your property during roof work, Happy Chimney Sweep is not responsible for replacing weak or aged tiles that may break. Tile replacement costs are not included in any roof work estimates. However, if tiles or the roof is damaged during our work, we will repair them where possible. If you have replacement tiles available, we will fit them at no additional charge.
11. SWEEPING WASTE
After the sweeping process, soot and debris will be bagged and placed in your rubbish bin. Due to licensing regulations, we are unable to dispose of this waste for you. If you wish to use the soot in your garden, please let us know. Soot serves as an excellent fertilizer with a liming effect, helping to neutralize overly acidic soils. However, avoid using it near acid-loving plants such as azaleas or potatoes. Additionally, soot-enriched soil retains water effectively, reducing the need for frequent watering.

12. STOVE INSTALL & FIREPLACE REMOVAL WASTE
Please note that we are not registered waste carriers and, therefore, cannot remove rubble or waste left after a stove installation or fireplace removal. If you require assistance with waste disposal, you can find a local waste carrier through community magazines or directories.
13. PAYMENT
Payment due on completion, an invoice will be provided with payment details:
Account Name: Happy Wood Stoves Ltd
Account number: 41699985
Sort Code: 04-00-04
Monzo Bank
Please note we no longer accept card payments.
14. THE SERVICE OF SWEEPING
Sweeping is an essential annual maintenance service for all operational chimneys. During the sweeping process, the chimney sweep may identify faults or issues; however, not all problems can be detected through sweeping alone. The process effectively removes soot buildup from the liner or chimney, ensuring clear airways and optimal stove performance. In cases where a chimney has cracks or structural issues, these may not be identifiable through sweeping. Detecting leaks often requires smoke testing, which may not always reveal all issues. If you notice smoke in an upstairs room while using your fireplace, extinguish the fire immediately. This situation indicates a leaking chimney, which typically requires relining to resolve.
